Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2019 – Well done, Drogheda!

Over 8,000 musicians and well in excess of 600k people travelled to Drogheda from every part of the world to celebrate Irish music and culture last week.

It was a great success and we, at First Citizen, were very proud to be part of it. We supported the delivery of the courtesy car mobility service and we would like to thank the amazing local motor dealerships, the volunteer drivers, the Drogheda Chamber, Louth County Council, the Fleadh Executive Committee and indeed Comhaltas for a wonderful week. The group was so proud to receive a presentation during the week by Labhrás Ó'Murchú, Director General of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, for the excellent service provision. The beautiful award was accepted on behalf of the Dealers by Mr. Tony Smith of Smiths of Drogheda.

Some of our team helping out were Drogheda locals Paul Mckenna, Ronan Holcroft and Robert Murray.

Competitors from all over the world arrived. Georgia, in our Marketing team, is from Brazil and was delighted to stop by and meet Alex Navar, the first Brazilian competitor, who plays the uilleann pipes. We wish Alex the best of luck in his career and we hope he keeps spreading Irish music wherever he goes.

We are already looking forward to the Fleadh Cheoil next year in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath!
